Mumbai: The magic of Diwali often lies in the simplest of pleasures: the glow of illuminated neighbourhoods, the excitement of wearing new clothes, sharing sweets and meeting friends. For actress Fatima Sana Shaikh, these little moments form the most cherished part of her festive memories.
Special Festival for her
Reflecting on what makes the festival special, she says there is an unmistakable warmth in the air as people dress up, visit one another and come together over good food. “There’s just something about Diwali that makes everybody happy. The city looks beautiful, people are dressing up, visiting each other, and eating good food. There’s a certain warmth in the air. And I love that,” she shares.
The Dangal actress believes childhood brings a different kind of excitement to festivals, when even the smallest experiences feel magical. Recalling those days, she says, “When you’re a kid, festivals are just so much more exciting. You look forward to the holidays, the sweets, wearing new clothes, meeting your friends. And I remember how exciting it was just to see the whole neighbourhood lit up. It’s funny how, as you grow older, you realise that it was really those small things that made it so special.”
Even today, Fatima looks forward to dressing up, enjoying festive delicacies and spending time with loved ones, keeping alive the simple joys that make Diwali memorable.
