As rumours regarding Mohamed Salah’s future at Liverpool swirl, Joe Cole thinks the player still has his best years ahead of him.

The Egyptian scored a goal on Thursday night to mark becoming the team’s captain as the Reds defeated LASK 4-0. After securing first place in Group E, Luis Diaz and two goals from Cody Gakpo completed the score, sending Jurgen Klopp’s team to the Europa League knockout stages.

Al-Ittihad, the Saudi Pro League winners, expressed interest in signing Salah during the summer. On the penultimate day of the transfer window, a verbal offer valued at approximately £150 million was made, but the Reds quickly rebuffed the proposal.

With 18 months left on his Merseyside contract, Salah continues to exhibit his quality while adding new feathers to his already glittering hat. After joining Liverpool from AS Roma in 2017, his penalty was his 199th goal in Liverpool red. On Sunday, he will make his 300th start against Fulham.

As his future is expected to be further speculated upon in January, Cole, a pundit for TNT Sports’ coverage of Liverpool’s match against the Austrian team, asserted that you never know whether Salah is happy or not.
