The Royal Rumble PLE will not only be featuring the World Championships being defended but will also feature the Tag Team Championships being defended. It was revealed during the recent episode of Friday Night Smackdown that DIY will be defending their championship against the Motor City Machine Guns.
However, the match is not going to be a regular match. It is set to be a 2 out of 3 fall match. This will definitely be an advantage for both sides. In such matches, if one team takes the pinfall early in the match, they have an opportunity to make a comeback.
During the segment, Johnny Gargano seemed to be a bit uncomfortable when the match was announced. Many speculate it is due to the history that he shares with Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin. This match will be the first time that these two teams face each other in the ring in WWE. The WWE Tag Team Champions will be looking to retain their championships and hold them for a long period.
There have also been rumors lately regarding a possible splitting of the DIY. They have separated from each other before when Tommaso Ciampa betrayed his partner back in 2017. At the moment it seems very unlikely, but anything can happen at the moment. This will also be the first time since WrestleMania XL that the Tag Team championships will be defended on a Premium Live Event.

During the Royal Rumble premium live event, the fans are normally looking forward to the Rumble matches. There are also some World Championship matches on the card that will attract the fans. On very rare occasions are the Tag Team Championships defended during this event.
WWE’s decision to have a tag team championship match at this event has surprised the fans. They mainly believe that the booking of the match has been done because of good storytelling. Having a completely different match type compared to the regular one will also get the fans entertained.
The star power that the tag team of DIY holds will also add to this match. The pair has been on a run ever since they have reunited. They will be looking to retain this championship and establish themselves as the top tag team in WWE.
