Stefanos Tsitsipas has officially reunited with his father, Apostolos Tsitsipas, as his head coach.
In a heartfelt message shared on social media, the 25-year-old confirmed the news with a caption that read like a love letter to his beginnings. “Some journeys have a way of circling back to where they began,” Tsitsipas wrote. “After some time apart, I’ve reunited with the person who first believed in me—my father. I’m grateful to share the court and the road ahead with him once again.”
For years, Apostolos was a constant presence in Tsitsipas’ box, guiding him from junior tournaments all the way to Grand Slam finals. However, the pressure of elite competition and scrutiny from fans and analysts saw Tsitsipas make changes in his coaching team in recent years.
At times, he experimented with different coaches, including a brief stint with former Wimbledon champion Mark Philippoussis and Novak Djokovic‘s ex-coach Goran Ivanisevic.
However, it seems the Greek No. 1 is going back to what feels most familiar. “We’ve been through every chapter of this journey together, and this next one feels right,” Tsitsipas continued. “Sometimes, coming home is the boldest step forward.”
Notably, the announcement comes at a crucial time in Tsitsipas’ career. Once ranked as high as World No. 3 and a finalist at the French Open and Australian Open, his form has fluctuated significantly over the last year.
Questions have been raised by both fans and former players regarding his coaching setup. Still, Tsitsipas remains one of the most talented players on the ATP Tour, with a strong all-court game to remain a fan favorite.
The decision to bring back Apostolos may not just be about tactics, but trust—something Tsitsipas seems to be leaning into now more than ever.
For Stefanos Tsitsipas, it’s about returning to a foundation built on belief. Whether this change translates into titles remains to be seen, but for now, it’s clear the Greek star is finding strength from his own father.
With the hard-court season in full swing and the US Open on the horizon, all eyes will be on Tsitsipas and his father-coach duo to see what the next chapter holds.
