Major Update on The Rock’s WWE Return at SummerSlam: Reports

A promising sequel to John Cena and Cody Rhodes’ underwhelming WrestleMania 41 showdown is set to unfold at SummerSlam. The success of their feud depends on how they perform at The Biggest Party of the Summer. Many fans are also wondering whether Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson will play a role in it.

According to BodySlam.net, there was no indication within WWE that The Final Boss would return to the company anytime soon. That said, the chances of the Black Adam star appearing at SummerSlam are slim. He last appeared on television at Elimination Chamber earlier this year, where Cena turned heel for the first time since 2003.

Cena sold out to The Rock. Their unholy alliance became the talk of the town for quite some time. However, as weeks passed, the unexplained absence of The Great One from WWE programming began to frustrate the audience, and his WrestleMania no-show became the final nail in the coffin. WWE wanted fans to believe that he sent his aide, Travis Scott, to help The Cenation Leader win his seventeenth world title.

Scott’s WrestleMania run-in drew criticism from many, including Drew McIntyre, who recently slammed the rapper for ruining the main event. Additionally, wrestling pundits alleged that The Rock threw Triple H under the bus by backing out of the company’s biggest storyline leading into its biggest spectacle of the year. Johnson, however, claimed he chose not to walk down the aisle in Las Vegas so the spotlight could remain on Cena.

The Rock Gives an Update on the Smashing Machine’s World Premiere

One of The Rock’s biggest film ventures to date, The Smashing Machine, will hit theaters on October 3. It tells the life story of Mark Kerr, whom The Great One inducted posthumously into the 2025 UFC Hall of Fame. Additionally, Rock announced that Kerr’s biopic would have its world premiere at the 82nd International Film Festival in Venice.

The Hollywood mogul thanked everyone for their support and confirmed his presence at the event. The Rock took a hiatus from WWE last year to film the movie. Many believed he would return to the squared circle once he fulfilled that commitment. He even injured his elbow during filming, but the injury didn’t cause any serious issues.

Johnson’s stunning comeback at Bad Blood in October marked his first WWE appearance since finishing The Smashing Machine. From that point on, things began to spiral regarding his wrestling future with WWE. It has now reached a stage where there is no certainty about his return to television.
