The Gujarat Titans have finally been eliminated from the IPL 2025 season. They suffered a heavy loss to the five-time champions, the Mumbai Indians, in the Eliminator. Unfortunately, after scoring tons of runs in the league stage, captain Shubman Gill couldn’t do much against Trent Boult’s inswinging delivery and got out early.
After the 2022 IPL champions lost the match by 20 runs, Gill expressed disappointment in the post-match interview. He looked visibly dejected and lamented his team’s fielding efforts. Gill admitted that it was a brilliant game of cricket, and despite the target being huge, they kept themselves in the game.
The 25-year-old superstar stated that although the last three or four overs didn’t go their way, it was still a good game of cricket. He felt disappointed by the fact that the fielders dropped three easy catches. Gill also admitted that the game became easier for them thanks to the dew. The GT captain revealed the message he sent to Sai Sudharsan and Washington Sundar about playing the way they wanted to and taking the team to the finals.
Unfortunately, it just wasn’t meant to be, as MI bowlers executed their plans well and won the match by 20 runs. Sudharsan will most likely be the winner of the Orange Cap with 759 runs, unless Suryakumar Yadav surpasses him. After a dominating win, Hardik Pandya’s team will play against PBKS in Qualifier 2, with RCB waiting in the final.

Yesterday’s Eliminator match between MI and GT was explosive, to say the least. A controversy broke out when both captains, Gill and Pandya, were at the toss. A video clip on social media went viral in which the 25-year-old star refused to shake hands with the former GT captain.
After the controversy caught Gill’s attention, he shared a message to put all the rumors to rest on social media. He clarified that everything was fine between him and Pandya and requested fans not to believe everything they see on social media.
Not only that, the MI captain responded to his Instagram story and agreed with him. Gill will start a new chapter in his cricketing career, leading the Test team to England. Meanwhile, Hardik’s focus will be on winning Qualifier 2 against the Punjab Kings.
