“The real chokers are back” RCB missed huge opportunity to confirm top 2 spot as SRH ruins their party

This was a crucial match for RCB to win, as the Gujarat Titans had given them a chance to go on top by losing their match against LSG. Due to the possibility of rain in Bangalore, the match between RCB and SRH was shifted to Lucknow’s Ekana Stadium. Jitesh Sharma captained the Bangalore side for the first time and announced that they would bowl first. Rajat Patidar played as an impact player.

Without their main bowler, Josh Hazlewood, it became tough for the RCB bowlers to stop Hyderabad’s run flow. Despite the three-time finalists taking wickets at regular intervals, SRH managed to post a mammoth total of 231 runs. Ishan Kishan was the highest scorer for Hyderabad, scoring 94 runs off just 48 balls. Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, and Heinrich Klaasen all made valuable contributions.

The Red Army needed to create history in order to chase the biggest target in 18 years. They got exactly the kind of start they wanted, with Virat Kohli and Phil Salt scoring 72 runs in the powerplay without losing a wicket. However, young spinner Harsh Dubey took the King’s valuable wicket when he was on 43 runs. The Englishman did score a half-century but got out at a crucial time. He scored 62 runs off just 32 balls, with 4 fours and 5 sixes.

Interestingly, the chase still looked under RCB’s control. They needed 65 runs in the last 6 overs with set batters Patidar and Jitesh at the crease. However, that’s where it all went downhill, as they lost their next 7 wickets for just 16 runs and ended up losing the match by 42 runs. Their net run rate took a huge hit, and they are now below GT and PBKS. Captain Patidar’s poor form and Tim David‘s injury will surely put RCB’s trophy hopes in doubt.

Fans react to RCB’s heavy loss to Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2025

Many fans expected RCB to win against an out-of-form SRH and strengthen their playoff chances. However, Hyderabad was ready to counter all of their questions and damage their chances of finishing in the top 2. Fans trolled the Bangalore side for losing the match, which was once in their hands.

One fan joked about how the real chokers of the IPL were back in their ‘original form.’ Another fan said that RCB’s loss gave a big advantage to the other teams like GT, PBKS, and MI. Some fans expressed their wish to see MI go against the Bangalore side in the Eliminator match. Some fans even blamed Patidar, calling him a culprit. Here are some of the top reactions from fans:

One user joked that RCB’s curse of not winning the trophy would continue. Another user had an interesting complaint for the BCCI, saying they needed to remove the second timeout as it ruined the team’s momentum. Many fans still believed in RCB’s comeback and wished Tim David a speedy recovery from his injury.
