Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano are known to be a very formidable tag team. They are known as DIY when they team up together. Both men have even won the WWE tag team championships together and have known each other since NXT. They are currently competing on the SmackDown brand in pursuit of Tag Team Championships. However, Ciampa’s actions on the latest episode of Smackdown have cast doubts on the future of DIY.
During their tag team match on SmackDown, Tommaso refused to tag his partner and decided to deal with their opponents all by himself. Even after the match ended, he did not acknowledge his partner. He rather told the referee to raise his hand only to claim the victory. Both men currently are a babyface tag team, but there seems to be some change upcoming.
Many fans have started to speculate that a Tommaso Ciampa heel turn is on the cards. He turned on his partner earlier as well, back in 2017. Their rivalry in NXT was very popular, and it seems WWE might go down that road again. It seems that Ciampa wants to be his own man and does not want to be a tag partner.
A well-planned heel turn would add a lot of heat between the two men and lead to a great feud. They used to be inseparable but could potentially, in the future, be on opposite sides of the ring. The WWE Universe seems very interested in this angle.
Johnny Gargano comments on him and Tommaso Ciampa possibly splitting in the future
One-half of DIY have addressed the possibility of them splitting up. The two tag partners have a long history of feuding with each other. They have had multiple matches as friends and even enemies in NXT. Their relationship is often compared to the one of Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn.
Both men have also tasted a lot of success as partners. They captured the tag titles in NXT and even several months ago on SmackDown. However, they have turned on each other in the past as well. During a recent interview with Gorilla Position, Johnny was asked if the fans could expect a match between the two. He answered by saying that they have been together for a while now. Things are also different in their lives now, so he doesn’t see it happening soon.
Everyone always asks that; I think it’s always going to be the question that’s asked of me and Tommaso whenever we’re teamed up or against each other… But I will say we are incredibly excited about the tag team division, incredibly excited about what the future holds for that.

He further added that both of them get along very well and seem to stick together in WWE. They might not have found success on the main roster, but they are on the right path, according to Johnny. It will be interesting to see if fans get to relive the NXT rivalry on a bigger stage.
