6-time WWE champion released from company after 2-year hiatus

WWE has been updating its roster page frequently. After several talent releases last month, another big name has been let go. Rumors had hinted that Carmella’s time in WWE might be ending, but many expected her contract to be renewed. However, in a surprising move, WWE has officially released the former Women’s Champion.

According to Fightful, Carmella was released as soon as her contract expired this month. WWE chose not to renew her deal. Shortly after, the company moved her from the active roster to the alumni section on their website. This marks the end of her decade-long run with WWE—at least for now.

In 2023, Carmella took a break from WWE for maternity leave. After giving birth, she faced complications due to a flat foot, which made her return to the ring uncertain. Despite her efforts to come back, neither she nor WWE confirmed any plans for her return. Now, it seems she is ready to focus on life outside wrestling, prioritizing motherhood.

Carmella’s last WWE match was on March 6, 2023, against Bianca Belair on RAW. This marked the end of her 10-year career with the company. During her time in WWE, she achieved significant milestones, including becoming the first-ever Ms. Money in the Bank and cashing in on Charlotte Flair in 2018. While her career had its challenges, she delivered memorable performances against top stars.

Carmella’s achievements in WWE

Carmella is one of WWE’s most athletic women, known for her impressive performances. Her mic skills are highly entertaining, and her agility in the ring is widely praised. As the self-proclaimed “Most Beautiful Woman in WWE,” she has become one of the most popular figures in the pro wrestling industry.

In 2017, Carmella made history by winning the first-ever Women’s Money in the Bank Ladder match. She became the first woman to successfully cash in her MITB contract, defeating Charlotte Flair to claim the SmackDown Women’s Championship. This achievement propelled her to the top of the industry and earned her widespread recognition.

Carmella continued to shine, winning the WrestleMania Women’s Battle Royal in 2019. After a brief hiatus, she returned as a heel, reclaiming her title as the “Most Beautiful Woman in WWE.” She later teamed up with Zelina Vega to win the Women’s Tag Team Championship. Also, not a usual women’s championship but she has also won 24/7 Championship four times.
