Sting, 66, and those close to him have reportedly told WWE that he is Luger’s top choice for the role. However, Sting has indicated he may not be able to attend due to his current contract with AEW, which could complicate matters.
This situation highlights potential tension between WWE and AEW. Some WWE fans hope AEW’s Tony Khan will allow Sting to participate in the Hall of Fame event. Others, however, support AEW’s decision to refuse, given Sting’s commitments. Earlier this year, Sting confirmed he signed a multi-year deal with AEW and plans to make occasional appearances for the company.
