SmackDown, which is the blue brand of WWE, made its debut as a three-hour show. The opening of the show featured Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes coming out to the ring and addressing the audience. While he was cutting his promo, he was interrupted by former World Champion Drew McIntyre.
To everybody’s surprise, McIntyre did not attack Cody and even mentioned that he was not on his revenge list. Drew further elaborated that he was there to help the American Nightmare since he needed a friend. He even gave Cody a hug, which made things even more suspicious for the WWE champion.
After the show, Drew tweeted that he gave Cody a hug because he just wanted to see his neck tattoo up close. He has even taken shots at the tattoo of Rhodes by saying that it is even more funny when you look at it from nearby.
Considering the segment, it seems like Drew is going to be involved in Cody’s business going forward. This is definitely going to make Rhodes more alert going forward. There might be some kind of interference from the Scottish Warrior at the Royal Rumble PLE during the ladder match between Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens.
Cody Rhodes could appear on Raw for the special episode
The American Nightmare was one of the top superstars of Raw until WrestleMania XL. That changed after he dethroned Roman Reigns to become the Undisputed WWE Champion. After that, he moved to Friday Night SmackDown and has very rarely been seen on the red brand.
However, as per a tweet from Netflix, it may seem like the WWE Champion will be present on the red show. They put out a tweet where they have put a photo of Rhodes promoting the event, which is going to take place on January 6. His role at the event is not exactly clear, and his promotion for the event has also been questioned by a lot of people.
The tweet also involves Roman Reigns, who is another SmackDown superstar. However, he has been scheduled to face Solo Sikoa during the show. This promotional tweet might be an attempt for the company to foreshadow a segment with Rhodes. There are multiple big names who are scheduled to be at the show. His arrival will definitely add to the star power that will be present in the arena that evening.
