AJ Styles makes shocking revelation on when he plans to retire from wrestling

There is no doubt that AJ Styles will be remembered as one of the greatest wrestlers in history. Although he is still going strong at 47, The Phenomenal One knows his time in the ring is limited. In a recent interview, he revealed when he plans to hang up his boots.

While speaking with Chris Van Vliet, AJ Styles shared his thoughts on the right time to end his career. He stated that he might soon decide to wrap up his legendary wrestling tenure. Moreover, the former WWE Champion even promised to retire before turning 50.

He began his wrestling career in 2002 and made a name for himself everywhere he went. From TNA to NJPW and WWE, the 47-year-old star has won multiple championships. Styles has also held the WWE World Title twice, the Tag Team Titles, the U.S. Title, and the Intercontinental Title.

“That’s correct. I keep saying that. I’ve said this and said this, but I will not wrestle at 50, I promise you that.”

AJ Styles on The Insight

The Phenomenal One recently competed against Dominik Mysterio on the February 17th episode of Monday Night Raw. Although he emerged victorious, he still doesn’t have a clear path to WrestleMania. It will be intriguing to see where his story goes from here.

AJ Styles revealed that Vince McMahon didn’t know who he was

Before joining WWE, AJ Styles was already a well-established name. However, that wasn’t enough to impress Vince McMahon. The former world champion shared his thoughts on the electrifying reaction he received during his unforgettable debut at the Royal Rumble.

While speaking on The Insight, Styles revealed that Vince McMahon wasn’t impressed, even after his incredible debut in 2016. He further shared that McMahon initially saw it as a fluke and wanted to see more from him. Styles rose to the challenge, and his success proved his worth.

Styles certainly impressed McMahon, as he went on to have fantastic rivalries with stars like Chris Jericho, The Miz, and Roman Reigns after his debut. The Phenomenal One even defeated John Cena and captured the WWE Championship, holding the title for over a year. Now, in the twilight of his career, it will be interesting to see what the future holds for him.
