WATCH: Goldberg Knocks Out Gunther With Single Punch on Raw

The July 7th edition of Monday Night Raw in Providence featured a different version of Bill Goldberg. The former WWE Universal Champion arrived at the arena in a red muscle car to a thunderous ovation. The Hall of Famer interrupted Gunther, who was trash-talking Da Man for staying silent recently. Gunther had verbally abused Goldberg, and the Hall of Famer had not responded to The Ring General until now.

Goldberg stormed into the arena with vengeance on his mind and stood face-to-face with his retirement match opponent. They traded verbal blows, with the Hall of Famer quipping that Gunther had been talking way too much sh*t recently. He even screamed at the Austrian to take a swing at him. Gunther tried to do so but got clocked with a right-hand jab and fell to the ground.

Goldberg even had his nemesis lined up for a spear, but the latter escaped by the skin of his teeth. And just like that, the 58-year-old stood tall over one of the most tenacious wrestlers on the current WWE roster. It was quite a statement from the Tulsa native, who will wrestle for the last time this weekend in Atlanta at Saturday Night’s Main Event.

Not only does he have an opportunity to school Gunther over their heated confrontation from last year’s Bad Blood PLE, but Goldberg could also shock the world if he dethrones the Vienna-born wrestler for the world title. The former defensive tackle for the Falcons has been underwhelming as an in-ring performer over the years. Gunther has already mocked Goldberg’s inability to wrestle straight for more than three minutes.

Goldberg Suffered a Personal Loss of His Father-in-Law Ahead of SNME

Goldberg may have turned up to Raw in a bad mood, but he was grieving on the inside. This was because his father-in-law passed away a few days ago at 88 years of age. His wife, Wanda, shared the heartbreaking news on Instagram with several pictures of her dad.

One could deduce from it that both Goldberg and his son Gage were close to the deceased soul. If only he had stayed a bit longer, he would’ve had the chance to see his son-in-law compete in his last-ever WWE match. But amid an irreparable personal loss, Goldberg needs to focus on the task at hand.

The wrestler with Jewish ancestry has toiled hard to reach a point where he’s finally ending his wrestling career on his terms. Even though fans aren’t hopeful of a brilliant in-ring display from Da Man, this verdict could very well work in his favor.
