During the latest episode of SmackDown, Sami Zayn went one-on-one with Carmelo Hayes. The two men collided with each other following a backstage segment where Sami threw a Christmas card at Carmelo when he offered it to him during a segment. It was also revealed during the segment that the reason for Sami’s presence on SmackDown was because the New Bloodline kept appearing on Raw.
Both these men went face to face in the ring. During the match, after a good period of time, Hayes decides to walk back towards the locker room. At that moment, Braun Strowman came out, and he chased Hayes to the back. Meanwhile, in the ring, Sami Zayn turned around, and Tama Tonga hit him with a spear.
Later on, Jacob Fatu and Solo Sikoa also joined in the beating. However, Braun Strowman came back and started walking down the ramp. He first took out Tama Tonga and then in the ring took out Solo Sikoa. It was later Jacob Fatu who attacked him after Strowman got chopped in the back of his knee by Tonga. Later, Solo Sikoa attacked him with the Samoan Spike to put an end to The Monster Among Men. Later, Sami Zayn returned to the ring but got overpowered by the numbers of the New Bloodline.
Nick Aldis and multiple WWE officials showed up to control the chaos that was going on inside the ring. At the end of the segment, it was the New Bloodline who celebrated with their traditional finger-in-the-air celebration. This whole segment was a clear message to Roman Reigns about what he is going to be facing on January 6, 2025. Reigns and Solo are set to face each other on the debut episode of Raw on Netflix.
WWE veteran explains reason behind Sami Zayn’s appearance on SmackDown
Former WWE manager Dutch Mantell recently explained why he felt Sami Zayn’s segment on SmackDown ended in chaos. Zayn, who is a member of the red brand, decided to appear on SmackDown this week. According to the story, it was because the New Bloodline was constantly appearing on Raw. However, Dutch explains the possible reason behind the scenes.
Mantell, who is a retired professional wrestler, expressed that all the storyline angles regarding the Bloodline were sorted out. However, there was some kind of star power that was required on SmackDown. That was one of the main reasons why Sami Zayn was there. It was to make sure that SmackDown ran smoothly. According to him, the wrestlers must have even taken the weekend off.
I think it’s the holiday season. I don’t think they put a lot of thought into this either. They’re saying, ‘Well, these gates will do what they’re going to do. Nothing we do here is going to affect them one way or the other.’ You got your big shows booked. I think they took the weekend off.
