Everyone saw what happened with Seth Rollins during his match with LA Knight at Saturday Night’s Main Event. The Visionary ended up twisting his right knee while performing an airborne maneuver on his opponent. Since it wasn’t a work, an audible had to be called on the spot, which resulted in Knight’s victory. It wasn’t the original plan.
Rollins was helped to the back by a couple of staff members and was furious about his fate. Triple H, WWE’s Chief Content Officer, gave an update on The Visionary during the Evolution PLE post-show presser. He said the situation remained unclear, and it was too early to draw any conclusions. However, he added that things didn’t look very promising.
Levesque confirmed that Rollins was backstage last night to support his wife, Becky Lynch. She successfully retained her Women’s Intercontinental Title against Bayley and Lyra Valkyria. Regarding Rollins’ current injury scare, The Game revealed he’s scheduled for an MRI in Birmingham. Fightful reported that the Chicago Bears’ superfan was seen on crutches backstage at the Evolution PLE in Atlanta.
“And I’m sure somebody here would ask about Seth. I would say a little bit inconclusive. Doesn’t look good. We’re in Birmingham tomorrow. He came here tonight; he was not going to miss his wife’s performance tonight. He was here, and he’ll be in Birmingham tomorrow with Dr. Jeffrey Dugas. We’ll get an MRI, hope for the best, and see where we can go with that.”

This isn’t the first time Rollins’ knees have caused him trouble. They may have started weakening after an incident in November 2015 during a live event in Dublin. At that time, The Architect tore his MCL, ACL, and medial meniscus while botching a sunset flip powerbomb on Kane. The injury sidelined Rollins for nearly seven months. It will be interesting to see how WWE decides to take things further without the services of one of their best workers.
Seth Rollins’ current situation could affect a lot of WWE storylines
In the aforementioned address about Seth Rollins, Triple H also announced a Gauntlet match for Raw. It will feature CM Punk, LA Knight, Bron Breakker, Penta, and Jey Uso competing for a title shot. The winner will earn the right to challenge Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam.
If Rollins is sidelined for a long time, it could affect several ongoing storylines in WWE. The biggest question is what will happen to the Money in the Bank contract. Fans are speculating that if he steps away, Rollins might hand the MITB briefcase to one of his allies. Breakker and Bronson Reed are the two names being discussed.
Secondly, it was rumored that Rollins’ power trio was set to face a returning Roman Reigns at SummerSlam. However, given the current situation, that doesn’t seem likely anymore. The OTC was attacked by Breakker on Raw after WrestleMania and hasn’t returned since. Reigns was expected to seek revenge upon his comeback.
