This week’s Friday Night SmackDown was taped immediately after Raw on Monday in Pittsburgh. For those wondering if anything major happened during the blue brand’s yet-to-air episode, a familiar face returned. The Scottish Psychopath, Drew McIntyre, made his shocking comeback. As seen in the following clip, the former WWE Champion interrupted the show’s opening segment. That segment featured Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton in a heated exchange.
The former Legacy members were discussing their match from Night of Champions, where Rhodes defeated his mentor. By doing so, The American Nightmare became the 2025 and 24th King of the Ring. He is now set to challenge John Cena for the Undisputed WWE Title at SummerSlam.
In the segment, ‘The Viper’ admitted he hesitated to use the punt kick on Rhodes. However, the former AEW EVP shoved Orton shoulder-first into the exposed turnbuckle to seize the moment. Just as the former stablemates were showing mutual respect, McIntyre’s music hit. It marked his first WWE appearance in over a month. He had been off TV since losing a steel cage match to Damian Priest.
The Chosen One went on a hiatus to deal with personal matters and address some minor injuries. But it now seems McIntyre is ready to return to action. He mocked the camaraderie between Rhodes and Orton during the segment. Eventually, he was dropped by The Apex Predator with a sudden RKO. Later, SmackDown GM Nick Aldis made Orton vs. McIntyre official for Saturday Night’s Main Event on July 12 in Atlanta.
Drew McIntyre was recently spotted at former WWE star Jinder Mahal’s wedding
Drew McIntyre, who’s currently off WWE programming, has finally shared an update about his whereabouts. The Scottish Warrior attended Jinder Mahal’s wedding ceremony on Friday. In the post, McIntyre was seen wearing a turban and traditional Punjabi attire. He posed alongside Mahal and Heath Slater, completing a 3MB reunion. The trio once formed the popular 3MB faction during their early WWE days.
McIntyre took to X and excitedly announced that the band was back together. Both he and Mahal were released from WWE during their disappointing first run.
However, they worked hard and eventually became world champions in their second run with the company. While The Scottish Warrior is still active in the main event scene, Mahal was released from WWE again last year.

The entire fan base was shocked when Mahal defeated Orton for the WWE Title in 2017. He had a decent world title run, holding the belt for 170 days before eventually losing it to AJ Styles. Mahal also captured the United States Title at WrestleMania 34, but his career began to decline shortly afterward. On April 19 last year, he was released by the Stamford-based company and is currently working in the independent wrestling circuit.
