Drew McIntyre takes shot at CM Punk after his match was announced against Gunther at SummerSlam

In less than three weeks, CM Punk will challenge Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam. That doesn’t seem to have sat well with one of the Chicagoan’s greatest career rivals, Drew McIntyre. The Scot recently took to X and posted a hilarious clip of two toilet seats swinging closer, with one eventually destroying the other after several collisions.

McIntyre’s unbeaten social media game continued to impress netizens as he hilariously compared the meme clip to how things will unfold when Punk faces Gunther. Knowing the Scot, he’s already predicting a total annihilation of The Best in the World as he braces for the menace of the erstwhile Walter. The Scottish Psychopath has already picked his side, by the looks of it.

It needs to be mentioned that the Ayr-born wrestler still doesn’t seem to have gotten over his beef with Punk. They haven’t come to blows in quite some time, but were engaged in a year-long rivalry in 2024. Their trilogy of matches is regarded as one of the best in the current era of wrestling. No one could ever forget the way they painted the canvas red inside Hell in a Cell.

While currently not feuding with Punk, McIntyre is celebrating what he believes will be a nightmarish experience for his arch-nemesis against Gunther. For the unversed, The Second City Saint earned the distinction of standing across from The Ring General after winning a Gauntlet Match on this week’s Raw. He was the last one to enter the Gauntlet and eliminated Bron Breakker despite Bronson Reed’s involvement.

CM Punk came face-to-face with Roman Reigns on Raw

The aforementioned Gauntlet Match ended in CM Punk clocking Bron Breakker with a GTS to seal the SummerSlam spot. However, in its aftermath, Breakker and his cohort, Reed, started unloading on Punk and his temporary backup, Jey Uso. The onslaught continued until Roman Reigns came out to even the odds.

It was the OTC’s first WWE appearance since the night after WrestleMania 41. He single-handedly tamed the Breakker-Reed duo and reached out for his down-and-out cousin, Uso. Punk thought Reigns would extend a hand for him as well, but that didn’t happen. The babyfaces stood tall as Seth Rollins‘ henchmen were left with no choice but to retreat with Paul Heyman.

One might feel that Reigns and Uso vs. Breakker and Reed is in the cards for SummerSlam now that Rollins is out with an undiagnosed knee issue. However, it would be too soon to rule Punk out of the equation, as he and Reigns had a brief stare-down in the ring this Monday. The Second City Saint has a humongous task at hand—dealing with Gunther. As such, Punk can’t risk taking his eyes off what should matter most to him right now. After all, The Visionary is temporarily out of the picture due to an injury.
