CM Punk reveals the inspiration behind his iconic “Pepsi” tattoo

CM Punk has over 50 tattoos on his upper body, but the one that has always hogged the limelight is a Pepsi logo on his left arm. Why does he have it? In a clip posted by WWE across its digital platforms, the 48-year-old can be seen talking about a hardcore punk band, Minor Threat, which is known to have coined the straight edge subculture.

The band’s guitarist, Brian Baker, had a Coca-Cola tattoo, which Punk had learned from an interview he watched of Baker while being in detention. The latter admitted he had it done because he was fond of the aforementioned soft drink. Drawing inspiration from it, The Best in the World decided to follow suit, but with the logo of a soft drink that he liked, being a Midwest kid at heart.

Punk explained that it might be silly of him to get a giant corporate logo inked on his arm. However, he explained that it has a much deeper meaning. For the ex-AEW star, it helps him remind everyone that he’s straight edge. Back at WrestleMania 41, WWE prepared a special video package for The Second City Saint with Killswitch Engage’s This Fire Burns used as the background theme.

One could go back and rewatch Punk in that moment, saying, “Don’t let these tattoos fool you. I’m a man of great discipline. I don’t drink. I don’t do drugs. I’m Straight Edge.” That night would forever hold a special place in Punk’s heart, as it was his first-ever WrestleMania main event.

CM Punk suffered a gut-wrenching loss on WWE Raw

This past Monday on Raw, Punk had an opportunity to qualify for the 2025 Money in the Bank ladder match. The former world champion locked horns with AJ Styles and El Grande Americano in a high-stakes triple-threat showdown. Just when The Best in the World nailed a GTS on Americano and was about to get the pin, Bron Breakker dragged the veteran out of the ring.

Bronson Reed wasn’t far behind either, and they started battering The Second City Saint. Seth Rollins’ henchmen did their job before being neutralized by Jey Uso and Sami Zayn. Amidst the ongoing chaos, Styles succumbed to the masked luchador, who is now headed to MITB. Despite losing out on the coveted spot, Punk was grateful to share the ring with Styles for the first time since 2005.

The Voice of the Voiceless hilariously thanked Mr. TNA on Instagram for leaving his boot print on his face. Punk also expressed a desire to run it back soon with The Phenomenal One instead of waiting another two decades. Fans would be down to see these icons duke it out in a singles encounter on a much bigger stage than Raw or SmackDown.
