Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins, at one point in their wrestling careers, were the best of friends. They were like brothers to each other and stood by each other’s sides at all times. These two superstars were part of one of the most amazing trios in WWE, The Shield. The faction consisted of both of them and Dean Ambrose.
However, in 2014, Seth Rollins turned his back on his brothers. During an episode of Raw, he struck a steel chair in the back of Roman Reigns. He betrayed his brothers and decided to join The Authority. Ever since that incident, both men have come together on multiple occasions and have even reunited The Shield various times throughout the years.
Despite all this, it seems like Roman Reigns still has that hatred towards the former WWE Champion. Roman spoke about how he felt about Seth Rollins and hitting him with a chair at WrestleMania 40 during an interview with Jimmy Traina on Sports Illustrated.
It seems that the betrayal, which took place long ago, still has Roman in a trauma. Seth used to be very close to him, and the chair shot to the back seemed to break him from inside as well. Roman expresses that Seth turning his back on them helps him remember not to trust everyone. He also mentions that if you can’t trust anyone, you should keep them at a distance of one chair. This has explained why he went after The Architect during his WrestleMania match instead of attacking his opponent Cody Rhodes. His decision to attack Rollins indirectly ended up costing him the WWE Undisputed Championship.
The former members of The Shield are currently on different brands in WWE. Seth Rollins is part of Monday Night Raw, while Roman Reigns is on Friday Night SmackDown. At the moment, both men seem to be dealing with their own issues. There has not been any signal of them crossing paths anytime soon.
Roman Reigns speaks about WrestleMania 40 and Cody Rhodes
During the same interview, Roman Reigns was asked if he had a moment with Cody Rhodes after their historic match at WrestleMania XL. Rhodes ended the Tribal Chief’s WWE Universal Championship reign of 1316 days at the event. After such an emotional match, many members of the wrestling community would expect the two to have a moment backstage.
Reigns revealed that they did not have any kind of interaction after that match. He mentioned that he felt that there was no need for it. Cody Rhodes celebrated his victory at WrestleMania for a long period of time after the match. Roman said that he did not prefer to be out there.
The Big Dog had also taken a break from WWE television after that match for a while. It seems that after dropping his championship, he just wanted to go home and relax considering how long he served the company without any breaks.
Both men main evented Night 1 and 2 of WrestleMania. First night Roman Reigns won with his cousin The Rock at his side in a tag match against Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins. During Night 2, when the championship match was on, there were multiple names who interfered in that match. The in-ring action itself was also very tiring. It seems like Reigns did not want to interrupt Cody’s moment and also wanted a well-deserved break.
