Ricochet was one of the most popular and loved high-flyer wrestlers in WWE. He was widely popular among the WWE Universe and was always cheered as a babyface. It seemed like he had an amazing future in WWE before suddenly leaving the company at the end of June 2024.
Ricochet’s departure from WWE and move to AEW has been a hot topic of discussion among wrestling fans. He recently appeared on “The Chris Van Vliet Show” and had a lot to say regarding his exit and even his partner Samantha Irvin‘s exit from the company.
“I wasn’t going to go to the highest bidder. I was just going to go to whoever is going to make me feel good and ignite that spark again…I just felt at the time that AEW could be that gasoline for my fire. Since being there,.. I feel like I made the right choice.”

During the interview, he said that he felt like he was never the main focus of the story. Elevating other wrestlers had seemed to become his full-time role, according to him. He added that for him, it was never about money, and he just wanted to go somewhere he could wrestle freely.
The former Intercontinental Champion said that he looks forward to working with a new approach at AEW. The prospect of being able to try new things and being creative pulled him towards them. He added that talent at AEW really drew his attention there. When asked about his goals, he revealed that he would like to be a World Champion one day. Ricochet also mentioned how winning championships creates a legacy.
When asked about dream matches in AEW, he said that he had a lot of them. One of the names that was mentioned was Bryan Danielson. Both men have some similarities in their wrestling styles, and it could add up to an amazing in-ring show. Edge and John Moxley were also mentioned as a few of his dream matches for the future.
Ricochet opens up on Samantha Irvin’s WWE exit
The new AEW signing spoke even about his personal life. Irvin and him did not get to see each other a lot. When asked about why his partner quit WWE, he said that they were on different schedules and wanted to spend time with each other more. He further added that she always wanted to be a manager and not a ring announcer.
The departure of his fiancée was much more unexpected. It had reached such an extent that fans who were recently praising them started cursing them. Ricochet said that his partner can do whatever she wants if she puts her mind to it. He also said that he knew WWE would not allow her to do anything other than the things she became popular for.
What’s next for both of them will definitely be interesting. As of now, Ricochet seems very happy at AEW and has been enjoying his time there. He has also gotten one step closer to his dream of becoming a world champion. A world title match awaits him in New Japan for January’s Wrestle Dynasty event.
