It turned out he was saved by another South African, Heinrich Klaasen. As Rickelton looked to connect with the ball, Klaasen’s gloves were positioned in front of the stumps, which is against the rules.
Varun Chakravarthy took to X and was completely against the rule. He expressed his opinion about Rickelton’s dismissal and stated that the bowler Zeeshan Ansari was not at fault. The KKR bowler further added that the rule should be changed and the wicketkeeper should be given a warning.
Rickelton’s eventual dismissal didn’t impact the Mumbai Indians much, as they comfortably chased down the target. All of MI’s recognized batters scored over 20 runs, making the chase smooth. With this win, the five-time champions moved up to 7th place on the points table.
SRH’s batting inconsistencies are hurting them this season
Sunrisers Hyderabad’s strongest point last season was their batting. Players like Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, and Klassen were in explosive form all season. They finished as runners-up last season, winning most of the matches due to their batting performances.
However, this season has been the opposite of what they expected. The pair of Travi-Shek hasn’t been firing on all cylinders, and Klaasen hasn’t had many chances to showcase his full potential. What was once their biggest strength has become a weakness this season.
Abhishek did show some hint of form by hitting 141 runs in just 55 deliveries against the Punjab Kings. Head has also scored 2 half-centuries, and both came in winning causes. If Sunrisers Hyderabad is to reach the playoffs, they need some inspiring performances from their batters.
