Sunrisers Hyderabad captain Pat Cummins won the toss and decided to chase the target. Many fans doubted the decision, considering the world-class top three of the Gujarat Titans. Sai Sudharsan and captain Shubman Gill scored with intent and registered their highest powerplay score of the season.

As usual, the top three did the heavy lifting for GT, with Gill and Jos Buttler scoring half-centuries and helping the team cross 200 once again. While the skipper scored 76 runs off just 38 balls, Buttler made 64 runs at nearly a strike rate of 200.
Thanks to sixes from Shahrukh Khan and Rahul Tewatia, GT posted a mammoth total of 225 runs. Unlike in previous matches this season, SRH had a decent start, scoring 57 runs with the loss of Travis Head’s wicket. Abhishek Sharma once again looked in good touch. Unfortunately, besides him and Heinrich Klaasen, no other batsman could contribute to the team.
Sharma scored 74 runs off just 41 balls, with 4 fours and 6 sixes. Unfortunately, as the required run rate kept climbing, both batsmen couldn’t accelerate effectively. Once they were dismissed, it was all Gujarat Titans. A few late hits from Nitish Kumar Reddy and captain Cummins ensured that SRH didn’t lose by a big margin. GT won by 38 runs and climbed to the 2nd spot on the points table.
