In a growing trend of celebrities entering the live-streaming space, rapper Nicki Minaj is the latest to explore her options. However, it seems like there is much more than mere speculation around this.
Niki Minaj is already speaking to some of the biggest names in the industry. During a July 9 stream, popular Twitch star Kai Cenat revealed he had a phone call with Minaj, offering her advice about joining the world of livestreaming, including guidance on choosing between Twitch and Kick.
Minaj, who has teased her interest in starting her stream, has reportedly been in discussions with controversial streamer Adin Ross about possibly joining Kick. Known for its more relaxed content policies that rival Twitch, Kick has attracted several streamers who’ve run into issues with the purple platform in the past.
Cenat, currently one of the most watched streamers on Twitch, gave Minaj a clear comparison during their call. “Twitch is just easier discoverability, and they’ll be able to find you easier,” he told her. “Kick is pretty good too, but it’s just fairly new, you know.”
Cenat also confirmed that he’s been approached by Kick in the past: “They have,” he said when asked about receiving an offer. “They do do deals and stuff like that, yeah.”
Minaj’s streaming interest has sparked buzz across social media. As a global superstar with an enormous fan base, her entry into livestreaming could bring a massive new audience to whichever platform she chooses.
However, during her conversation with Adin Ross, he suggested that she’d have more freedom on Kick, saying she could just “be you and not have to worry about bans or any of that.”
Cenat’s advice carries weight in the streaming world. Known for bringing big-name celebrities to his Twitch channel, including John Cena, Kevin Hart, and now Minaj.
Whether Nicki Minaj opts for the established reach of Twitch or the open-format approach of Kick remains to be seen. Either way, her potential debut would mark another major crossover moment between celebrity culture and the livestreaming world.
