Justin Bieber’s Wife Hailey Bieber Recalls Terrifying Birth Experience: “I Was Bleeding”

Model and entrepreneur Hailey Bieber opened up in a deeply emotional interview with Vogue Italia, recalling the traumatic experience of giving birth to her son, Jack Blues, and the life-threatening complications that followed.

Hailey, 28, revealed that the journey to motherhood took a frightening turn when her amniotic fluid leaked much earlier than expected. The unexpected complication forced her to be rushed to the hospital, where doctors made the call to induce labor using oxytocin. It is a hormone commonly used to stimulate contractions.

She went on to describe the intense pain of another method used during her labor, which is called the Foley balloon. “It was the most painful thing I’ve ever endured,” Hailey said, referencing the catheter-like device that’s inserted into the uterus and filled with saline to help dilate the cervix.

Despite the physical toll, the moment her baby boy Jack arrived brought a wave of relief. “Then Jack arrived in all his eight-pound glory,” Hailey Bieber recalled.

But the real danger came after the birth.

What should have been a joyful recovery quickly turned into a medical emergency. Hailey began bleeding heavily, far more than what is considered normal after childbirth. Doctors informed her that this type of postpartum hemorrhage occurs in roughly one in five women. Even so, the severity of the bleeding brought a terrifying realization.

I had complete faith in my doctor, so I was at peace, knowing he would never let anything bad happen to me,” Hailey shared. “But I was bleeding a lot, and people die, and that’s a thought that crosses your mind.”

The near-death experience left a lasting impact on the new mother. Though grateful for her medical team and the safe arrival of her baby, the fear she felt in those moments continues to linger. At the time of writing, baby Jack is now healthy and thriving.
