Whether it’s incredible gameplay, upset, controversy, or hilarious moments, the Australian Open 2025 has seen it all.
However, now, one particular incident has caught Elon Musk‘s eye, and it involves none other than 24-time Grand Slam title champion, Novak Djokovic. For the uninitiated, Djokovic stirred up drama after skipping a post-game interview with Channel 9.
As expected, the matter got all the speculations from fans, eliciting a plethora of reactions online. However later, Djokovic revealed why he skipped the post-match interview in a press conference, stating how Tony Jones, a journalist from Channel 9, made offensive remarks about him during a news bulletin.
That’s not all; as per the 24-time Grand Slam title champion himself, neither Jones nor Channel 9 had apologized yet (at the time of writing), and that’s precisely why he decided to go with the broadcaster.
The matter went viral within a few hours, and X boss Elon Musk chimed in to back Novak up on his decision. He shared Djokovic’s tweet with a direct hit at the media. Elon Musk wrote, “It’s way better just to talk to the public directly than go through the negativity filter of legacy media.”
Novak Djokovic gives a blunt reply to a drunk heckler
After cruising past Tomas Machac in the third-round fixture in Melbourne, Djokovic had an altercation with a fan that ended with a rather hilarious yet savage reply from the 24-time Grand Slam title winner.
During the post-match interview, as Djokovic was having a pleasant conversation with the interviewer, someone from the crowd who was apparently drunk screamed out loud, with the intention of distracting him from the interview.
As anticipated, Novak Djokovic did not hold back and responded, “Sorry, mate, I have a wife.” We can have a drink, though. Maybe you’ve had a few already?”
Djokovic concluded, “He and I were going back and forth for quite a while, actually. Should we set up a date? Listen, I’m happy to have a drink with him now that the match is over; we can reflect nicely on what we’ve said to each other during the match… What were we talking about?”
Novak Djokovic defeated Carlos Alcaraz in the quarterfinals of the Australian Open 2025 and is set to face Alexander Zverev for the final spot.
