Drew McIntyre and CM Punk had one of the best rivalries in the past year. CM Punk was set to face Seth Rollins after his return at WrestleMania XL. However, CM Punk got injured at Royal Rumble by Drew McIntyre which ended up changing the whole plan. They both went on the have a trilogy of matches and last one being at Bad Blood PLE. Later it was Drew who was injured in their last match. This kept him out of action for a short period of time.
After Bad Blood Ple, McIntyre made a shocking return on the latest episode of Monday Night Raw. Sami Zayn, who had just gone through a match with Seth Rollins was attacked by the Scottish Warrior. Drew’s return has come as a surprise to the WWE Universe. He was expected to be out of injury for a while. Along with being injured, he was expected to take a short break from professional wrestling.
It has now been revealed by PWInsider that his return has taken place a few weeks earlier. This return has been pushed ahead due to Raw superstar Bronson Reed suffering a very major ankle injury during the WarGames match at Survivor Series. Reed was one of the top heels on the red brand, and his injury would have outbalanced the babyfaces and the heels. The return of the former WWE Champion has helped balance that out and has also made the storyline more interesting.
Sami Zayn’s recent alliance with CM Punk at Survivor Series might be one of the reasons why he was attacked by Drew on Raw. It will be interesting to see what the future holds for the 39-year-old.
McIntyre sends out a strong message following his Raw return
Drew McIntyre’s surprise return created a lot of waves on social media. This has been something that has excited everybody. His attack on Sami Zayn following his match with Seth Rollins might be the start of a new rivalry between the two men.
The Scottish Warrior was caught on camera by WWE while he was leaving Raw. It seems like his return and his attack on Sami Zayn are all linked. During the video, he can be heard saying something about the WWE Universe not taking him seriously. The attack on Sami Zayn, who has currently been on a run, could be a method to send out a message.
Drew McIntyre, who is the three-time WWE Champion, would be looking for his redemption arc. He had managed to capture the World Heavyweight Championship at Wrestlemania XL. However, the championship was snatched from him by Damian Priest, who cashed in the Money in the Bank contract. Drew would be looking for a way to get back on top of the mountain very soon.
