Sabrina Carpenter Considers Bold Phone Ban at Her Coming Concerts

Pop sensation Sabrina Carpenter is contemplating a bold move for her future shows, and that is banning cellphones.

The 26-year-old singer and actress, who is currently enjoying a massive following with hits like “Espresso” and “Please Please Please”, opened up about how modern concert culture could use a little reset. And this might start with her own concerts.

This will honestly piss off my fans, but absolutely,” Carpenter admitted when asked if she’d ever consider a no-phone policy at her shows. “Because I went to see Silk Sonic in Vegas, and they locked my phone. I’ve never had a better experience at a concert.”

The pop sensation described that show as transformative. “I genuinely felt like I was back in the Seventies — wasn’t alive,” she joked. “Everyone’s singing, dancing, looking at each other and laughing. It really, really just felt so beautiful.”

For Carpenter, who has grown up performing at big concerts and who too surrounded by all the Gen Z fans, the sea of phones flashing right in front of her is a familiar sight. However, it has now started to feel a bit stale.

Sabrina Carpenter added, “I’ve grown up in the age of people having iPhones at shows. It unfortunately feels super normal to me,” she said. “But depending on how long I want to be touring, and what age I am, girl, take those phones away. You cannot zoom in on my face.”

She laughed before adding, “Right now, my skin is soft and supple. It’s fine.”

Carpenter’s comments come during a high point in her career. After years of steady success as a Disney star and rising pop artist, she has now firmly established herself as one of the music industry’s most promising young voices.

However, despite all the fame, Carpenter seems eager to cultivate deeper connections with her audience, and part of that may mean asking fans to live in the moment. She’s not alone in this thinking. Artists like Adele, Bruno Mars, and Jack White have previously implemented phone bans at shows to preserve the live experience.

Whether or not she pulls the trigger on a phone-free tour remains to be seen, but Carpenter’s fans might want to soak in every flash and selfie while they still can.
