24-time Grand Slam title champion Novak Djokovic is known for his illustrious career. Now that Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal have already said goodbye to the sport, he is the only active player from the Big 3.
While the majority of tennis fans, critics, and enthusiasts believe that Novak’s Grand Slam record can’t be broken that easily, the Serbian legend thinks otherwise. As per Novak Djokovic himself, Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner are the ones who can break his Grand Slam record if they take care of their bodies and focus on longevity.
While discussing his remarkable milestone, Djokovic highlighted how he believes Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner could be the next in line, but there are certain conditions.
Novak Djokovic said, “It’s too early. But, you know, people say my records will never be broken. I doubt that. I mean, Carlos could already be the next guy. Even Jannik. If they take care of the body, if they do things in a proper way, focus on longevity, and focus on the long term, then they can do it.“
Continuing further, as per the 36-year-old, World No. 2 Carlos Alcaraz has already scripted history at such a young age, and the odds are with him. That’s not all; Novak Djokovic also seemed pretty sure of Alcaraz completing his career Slam in the near future.
Novak concluded, “Carlos has done something no one has done in history at such a young age. So the odds are with him. He is going to complete his [career] Slam very soon. He’s even said himself he wants to make history. He wants to be ‘the best in history.’ I respect that kind of mentality of ‘Hey, I think I got the goods.’ But maybe it’s a little bit early for him to think about history.”
Novak Djokovic, Carlos Alcaraz, and Jannik Sinner are currently competing against each other for the ultimate Australian Open trophy. Can Jannik Sinner defend his title, or can Novak Djokovic move his Grand Slam record to a whopping 25? Well, only time will tell.
