As the Australian Open is taking all the limelight in the tennis world, Novak Djokovic seems to be enjoying just a little more.
After cruising past Tomas Machac in the third-round fixture in Melbourne, Djokovic had an altercation with a fan that ended with a rather hilarious yet savage reply from the 24-time Grand Slam title winner.
During the post-match interview, as Djokovic was having a pleasant conversation with the interviewer, someone from the crowd who was apparently drunk screamed out loud, with the intention of distracting him from the interview.
As anticipated, Novak Djokovic did not hold back and responded, “Sorry, mate, I have a wife.” We can have a drink, though. Maybe you’ve had a few already?”
Well, that’s not all; it seems like Djokovic recognized the heckler and further went to clarify that they were going back and forth for quite a while. With that being said, it seems like the 36-year-old had an altercation with the same heckler in some other game or maybe some other tournament as well.
Djokovic concluded, “Him and I were going back and forth for quite a while, actually. Should we set up a date?Listen, I’m happy to have a drink with him now that the match is over; we can reflect nicely on what we’ve said to each other during the match… What were we talking about?”
Djokovic’s savage replies to hecklers aren’t really new. The 24-time Grand Slam champion is often subjected to criticism and distraction on court from the crowd.
