Neymar Jr, in his recent match, showed exceptional performance and skills and led his team to a glorious victory. On 23rd February 2025, the Brazilian forward helped Santos FC win the game against Internacional de Limeira with a score of 3-0.
Neymar recently joined his childhood club after a dry season with Al-Hilal and delivered a beautiful goal from a corner kick. After the match, the goal was highlighted as the ‘Olimpico’ goal.
Neymar was subjected to taunts by the rival fans at the Estadio Major Jose Sobrinho stadium. The home fans taunted the Brazilian with chants of his former partner Bruna Marquezine when he approached to take the corner kick during the ninth minute of the match.
Rather than losing his calm, Neymar gestured to the crowd to increase their voice and delivered a perfect assist to Tiquinho Soares, who opened the score line.
Neymar reported this scenario in an interview with CazeTV, “I went to take the corner, they provoked me. I asked them to sing louder, I struck the ball and got an assist.”
The fans prolonged the chants, and in minute 27, Neymar reciprocated their taunts with a super goal. The Brazilian striker moved to the same corner to give the corner kick and stunningly curled the ball with his right foot, which directly went into the net, scoring his first goal for Santos FC.
This super goal feat is all the more commendable, as Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo have yet to score a goal from the corner.
Following the goal’s scoring, Neymar celebrated by covering his ears in front of the audience and then sitting on the advertisement board with his arms crossed to display a photo of victorious defiance.
He said, “Then, the second time I went there, they did it again.”. Then I told myself, ‘Now it’s my turn to score the goal.’ I made a tremendous shot and scored my first Olympic goal.
Besides his goal, Neymar was phenomenal throughout the match. He provided two assists to Soares, who scored two goals in the first half. By winning this match, Santos FC has secured its place in the quarter-finals of the Campeonato Paulista, where it will face Bragantino on Monday, March 3rd, 2025.
