The four-time Grand Slam champion, Naomi Osaka, recently expressed her ambition to achieve a career Grand Slam by winning titles at the French Open and Wimbledon. By winning the US Open in 2018 and 2020 and the Australian Open in 2019 and 2021, Naomi aims to achieve a career feat by winning these two remaining major tournaments.
Naomi recently expressed her future career goals by stating, “For as long as I can play, I want to win Wimbledon and Roland Garros and get a career Grand Slam”.
For the uninitiated, Naomi’s career has been full of achievements and setbacks. She became the first Asian player to hold the title of World No.1 in singles. Since then, she has been in the spotlight for her personality on and off the court.
In 2023, Naomi Osaka took a break from tennis to welcome her daughter Shai in July. She resumed tennis in January 2024, but her comeback into the sport has been marked by mixed performances, including her final appearance at the Auckland Open 2025, where she retired because of an abdominal injury.
Despite these challenges, Osaka remains firm in her commitment to win a career Grand Slam. By winning this title, Naomi would achieve a place amongst some of the best tennis players who have won all four competitions.
Naomi’s focus is now to adapt herself to the new challenges posed by the clay courts of Roland Garros and the grass courts of Wimbledon. Naomi’s future goal to broaden her Grand Slam victories shows her keen interest in achieving a career feat in tennis.
She also acknowledges her past achievements and victories but places more importance on setting new records and winning new titles, “Of course, all of the achievements are great, but I always feel like there’s a lot more to do.”
With that being said, there is no denying that this commitment towards her goal not only helps to boost her gameplay but also sets an example for new and rising tennis stars to work towards achieving great heights.
