Jose Mourinho has openly commented on the rampant speculation that he is being considered for the managerial job at the Portugal National Team, alongside rumors of a possible return to work with Cristiano Ronaldo at Al-Nassr.
Jose Mourinho, who is in charge of Fenerbahçe, has firmly denied rumors of a possible transfer of Ronaldo to the Turkish side.
At a pre-match press conference, he joked: “Cristiano may come to Istanbul for dinner as it is exactly halfway from Saudi Arabia to Portugal Or perhaps he will come to visit his friend Jose, we can dine at my hotel.”
He stressed that these transfer rumors are baseless and need not be taken seriously.
On the subject of the Portugal national side, Mourinho has already spoken of regretting turning down the managerial position, saying, “I refused great working opportunities. The first one was even very, very hard to refuse because it was Portugal.”
However, he has not denied any existing talks or plans of accepting the role.
News has surfaced that Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr has tabled a whopping €100 million bid for Mourinho to sign a two-year contract, hoping to reunite him with former ward Cristiano Ronaldo, whom he once coached at Real Madrid. This bid would see Mourinho become the world’s highest-paid boss.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s Future Remains Uncertain
Cristiano Ronaldo, who currently features for Al-Nassr, has been rumored to move to different clubs as speculation regarding his next destination has continued.
Although there were speculations of a transfer to Moroccan club Wydad Casablanca for the FIFA Club World Cup, a source familiar with Wydad explained that there have not been any negotiations, and all interactions were purely casual.
While the football world continues to watch anxiously, there is always the possibility that Mourinho and Ronaldo could be reunited at either the national team or club level. Both men have made their mark on the game, and any union between them would certainly be one for the international spotlight.
Until then, the focus is on Mourinho’s duties at Fenerbahçe, while Ronaldo remains Al-Nassr’s attack force, fans salivating over updates about both of their futures.
