The 2025 Australian Open has just concluded, and fan-favorite Jannik Sinner has successfully defended his title, becoming the second player after Rafael Nadal to do so. He cruised past World No. 2 Alexander Zverev to secure this victory.
However, Sinner is not looking forward to only a hard-court victory. After winning his third Grand Slam title, Sinner is eyeing to bag all 4 Grand Slam titles, including the French and US Open. Last year, Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner both won 2 Grand Slam titles each.
While Alcaraz won the French Open and US Open, Sinner won the Australian Open and Wimbledon. Despite this, the Italian professional is currently sitting at the top of the ATP rankings while Carlos Alcaraz is World No. 3.
And that’s precisely what Sinner talked about during his finals post-match conference after winning his second Australian Open.
Sinner said, “It’s one thing I always think about. You have to be a complete player, not only 1 surface. Last year wasn’t bad on clay & grass. I can do better, yes, but let’s see. These are not questions that I can answer now by playing in the future. For sure, we are aiming to get into this rhythm because it’s a different game style, especially on grass.”
That’s not all; Sinner further talked about the ongoing doping drama and how he has managed to concentrate on his game no matter what.
When asked about how he has been managing not just going into the Grand Slam but also winning 2 Grand Slam titles while dealing with all the investigation and hatred from a section of tennis fans, Sinner said, “Very proud. It’s tough to describe. Many things happen off court that you don’t know. Matches can last 3 to 5 hours. That’s the gap of the day I have to be focused.”
Additionally, with this victory, Jannik Sinner becomes the first Italian man in history to win back-to-back Australian Open singles titles. He is also the first Italian man to win 3 Grand Slam singles titles. He has now won 3 hard-court Grand Slam titles.
With Carlos Alcaraz and now Alexander Zverev up in the race, it will be interesting to see how Sinner will perform for the rest of the three Slams.
