Jannik Sinner breaks silence on doping case after winning 2025 Australian Open

Jannik Sinner recently became the only second tennis professional ever, after Rafael Nadal, to successfully defend his Australian Open trophy. He beat World No. 2 Alexander Zverev in the finals to achieve this incredible feat.

However, one thing that has been on everyone’s mind is how the young tennis star is managing to keep himself motivated amidst all the recent controversies regarding his doping allegations.

For the uninitiated, the US Open champion first tested positive for the banned anabolic steroid clostebol on March 10 and then again after eight days. However, Sinner successfully appealed in both cases, allowing him to continue playing at Indian Wells while the investigation was ongoing.

However, other than the ongoing legal proceedings, Sinner faced intense criticism from fans, critics, and also a few tennis personalities, including Nick Kyrgios. Djokovic even extended his support for Kyrgios, highlighting how everyone has the right to express themselves.

He further talked about Kyrgios’s point regarding the inconsistency and transparency of the protocols as compared to other doping cases present in tennis.

Novak Djokovic said, “We live in a world where everyone has the right to express themselves, especially on social media. Nick has spoken a lot about the whole Jannik doping case, and he’s right about the transparency and the inconsistency of the protocols and the comparisons between the various cases.

Amidst all the controversies, Sinner managed to win two Grand Slam titles. And that’s precisely what he opened up about during the recent post-match press conference.

Jannik Sinner said, “Not really, what happened, happened now. As I always say, I keep playing like this because I have a clear mind on what happened. If I knew I was guilty, I would not play like this, and that’s it. I still believe every time it came out in a very positive way is going to be the case, and that’s it.

Continuing further, the Italian tennis professional talked about needing time off-court to process everything to keep his mind and body positive.

Sinner concluded, “At the moment I am not thinking about this. Of course, there are moments certain days where you feel like wish I would not have this problem, but I am always looking forward to go on court, trying to understand now; I also need my time, which is very important for me, for my body and my mind.”

After Sinner, World No. 1 Iga Swiatek also recieved several doping allegations, eliciting a plethora of reactions from, fans worldwide.
