The current World No. 6, Elena Rybakina, recently opened up about her goals for the coming 2025 season.
In a press conference after her country’s victory over Spain in the United Cup, the Kazakh talked about her personal as well as professional goals for the new year, and that involves playing the full season without any health concerns.
The former Wimbledon champion triumphed 2-1 against Spain on the opening day of the United Cup. This gave Spain a boost, moving them into the top spot in Group C. As Rybakina had an amazing 2024, she wishes to continue her momentum in the coming year as well.
As per the 25-year-old, she is focusing more on the Grand Slam titles and will be trying to get some big titles to her name this new season.
Rybakina said, “Well, definitely to play the full season because last season I was not playing in China. I had to skip. I had some health issues. I think that’s the most important for me: to stay healthy and to play from the beginning until the end. Yeah, of course, I’m focusing on the Grand Slams and trying to get some big titles.“
When asked about her Australian Open final match against Aryna Sabalenka, where Kazah reached the very last round but eventually lost to the current World No. 1, she said, “Well, it’s always tough. A lot of good opponents, and I think the most important, as I said, is to stay healthy because not every match you can play perfect.
In conclusion, the 25-year-old showed confidence as she seemed on the right track to fight “until the end.“
Rybakina concluded, “So you need to be ready for some tough matches and fight until the end. I think everything is possible. It’s just not always everything depends on you, but I think with the preparation we did, I have some chances.”
That said, Elena Rybakina is practicing for the upcoming 2025 Australian Open.
