“First time in 9 years!”- Ashutosh Sharma guides Delhi Capitals to historic win against Lucknow Supergiants in incredible run-chase

After three thrilling matches to open the 18th IPL season, the Delhi Capitals faced the Lucknow Super Giants in their first game. New captains Axar Patel and Rishabh Pant went out for the toss, with Axar choosing to bowl after winning it. Lucknow started strong, as their overseas batters, Aiden Markram and Mitchell Marsh, attacked every bowler with boundaries.

The Aussie kept going even after Markram’s dismissal, scoring 72 runs at a strike rate of 200. However, it was Nicholas Pooran who stole the spotlight by hitting three sixes in debutant Vipraj Nigam’s over. The Capitals fought back strongly, dismissing Captain Pant for 0 and sending Ayush Badoni and Shahbaz Ahmed back early.

Mitchell Starc was a bit expensive but took three wickets. At one point, it seemed LSG wouldn’t reach 200, but David Miller’s late surge pushed them past the mark. In contrast, DC had a disastrous start, losing three batters for just seven runs. Faf Du Plessis and Axar Patel tried to rebuild the innings, but the wickets kept falling consistently.

Despite that, the Capitals stayed in the game by scoring quickly. The 19th over was the most thrilling, as Kuldeep Yadav hit a boundary before getting out. Impact sub-Ashutosh Sharma followed with a six and a four. In the final over, Pant had a chance to take the last wicket and win the match, but fate had other plans. Man of the Match Ashutosh sealed the victory with a six, leading the Capitals to a stunning win by scoring 66 runs. They now join RCB, CSK, and SRH in the top half of the table with 2 points.
