Novak Djokovic Ditches Jannik Sinner to Pick Carlos Alcaraz as Slight Favorite in Wimbledon Final

After bowing out of the 2025 Wimbledon Championships in the semifinals, Novak Djokovic has shifted his focus to the highly anticipated final between World No. 1 Jannik Sinner and defending champion Carlos Alcaraz.

The 24-time Grand Slam winner, who fell to Sinner in four sets, weighed in on the blockbuster matchup and leaned ever so slightly in favor of the Spaniard.

“I think I will give a slight edge to Carlos as a favorite because of the two titles he’s won here and the way he’s playing and the confidence he has right now,” Djokovic said. “But it’s just a slight advantage. Because Jannik is hitting the ball extremely well. I think it’s going to be again a very close matchup like we had in Paris.”

The two young stars last faced off in the final of Roland Garros just weeks ago, where Alcaraz beat Sinner in a thrilling five-set battle. Now, the stage is set for another showdown, this time on the grass of Centre Court.

Alcaraz, the reigning Wimbledon champion, is aiming to defend his title and secure his fourth Grand Slam trophy. At the same time, Sinner seeks his first Wimbledon crown.

Djokovic, who has played both players at the highest level, knows the kind of test each presents. While Sinner ended the Serbian’s six-year streak of Wimbledon finals this week, Alcaraz defeated Djokovic in last year’s Wimbledon final in a five-set clash.

Now, with both young guns peaking at the right time, Djokovic expects nothing less than another classic battle.

Alcaraz’s experience on grass, which includes last year’s title and a dominant run through the draw this year, gives him the slightest edge in Djokovic’s view. The two tennis professionals have captured three of the last four Grand Slam titles.

With that being said, there is no denying that the Alcaraz-Sinner rivalry could well define the next decade.

For fans, Sunday’s final is a dream matchup, with a Grand Slam title on the line. And if Djokovic’s prediction holds true, it’s going to be close.
