It has been over two months since Roman Reigns was last seen on WWE television. He was attacked by Bron Breakker at Seth Rollins‘ behest on Raw after WrestleMania 41. Fans have been awaiting a fitting response from their Tribal Chief. His return is all but imminent at this point, according to a new update from WrestleVotes.
The outlet has noted that preparations for Reigns’ comeback are already underway. Apart from brand-new merchandising and branding for the Pensacola-born wrestler, the company is also planning alternative Tribal Chief monikers. The report claimed there were initial plans for The OTC to work this weekend’s Night of Champions PLE in Saudi Arabia.
That might not happen given the card has been finalized without Reigns being factored into creative plans. However, the former Bloodline leader is set to be featured in SummerSlam’s main event. The show is making its two-night debut this year. One might wonder who he could face at The Biggest Party of the Summer.
Reigns wouldn’t have to look any further than Rollins and his heavy-hitters, namely Breakker and “Big” Bronson Reed. But that raises the question of who will even the odds for an outnumbered Reigns. At one point, it seemed like he would receive backing from CM Punk and Sami Zayn.
They took on Breakker and Rollins at Saturday Night’s Main Event but couldn’t get over the line. A returning Reed bulldozed his way into Rollins’ group at that point. Since then, both Punk and Zayn have moved into different storylines and may not return to face Rollins and company. However, Punk and Rollins recently came to blows during the SummerSlam kickoff show.
Kevin Owens Looks Back on His 2021 Feud With Roman Reigns
Roman Reigns has had several career-defining rivalries with Seth Rollins, Cody Rhodes, Brock Lesnar, and John Cena, to name a few. However, the chemistry he had with Kevin Owens is something fans still rave about. They haven’t come to blows since wrestling each other in early 2023.
However, the duo was constantly feuding during the Thunderdome Era of WWE, producing some of the most captivating segments and matches. Owens recently revealed on Rhodes’ show that WWE had plans to introduce Damian Priest into his then-ongoing feud with Reigns.
“In 2021, the pandemic era, I was embroiled in a feud with Roman Reigns. I’m at television and they tell me, ‘Things are kind of changing now. You’re going to be introduced to your new best friend … Do you know Damian Priest from NXT?’ ‘The guy with arrows?’ ‘Yes.’ ‘Well, nothing against him, but no one would believe that we’re best friends.
Kevin Owens on Cody Rhodes’ What Do You Wanna Talk About
The Prizefighter was baffled by the company’s pitch of making Priest portray his best friend. Priest would have aided Owens in his cause against The Bloodline. The Canadian was not impressed with the idea and rejected it. Had he agreed, Priest was lined up to replace Owens in his Royal Rumble match against Reigns in 2021.
