Rajasthan Royals finally chased down a target after losing three close matches. The cricketing world found a new hero in Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who smashed the GT bowlers all over the ground. He scored 101 runs off just 38 balls before getting out on Prasidh Krishna‘s delivery.
Chasing a massive target of 210 runs, the RR batters needed a fiery start—and that’s exactly what Yashasvi Jaiswal and Suryavanshi delivered. By the end of the powerplay, they had already scored 87 runs without losing a wicket. The GT bowlers had no answer to Suryavanshi’s power-hitting, as he brought up his century with a six off Rashid Khan.
He became the second-fastest player to score a century in the IPL, reaching the milestone in just 35 balls. The Rajasthan opener was only behind the legendary Chris Gayle, who hit a hundred in 30 balls against Pune Warriors India in 2013. Suryavanshi also broke several other records, including becoming the youngest centurion in IPL history.
Suryavanshi also broke Yusuf Pathan’s record for the fastest century by an Indian in the IPL. While Pathan reached his hundred in 37 balls, Suryavanshi did it in just 35. At only 14 years old, he has already shown glimpses of his incredible potential by smashing one of the greatest centuries in IPL history. All eyes will be on him when he takes the field against the five-time champions, Mumbai Indians, in the upcoming match.
