Delhi Capitals coach expresses deep disappointment over his team’s critical loss to Mumbai Indians

Delhi Capitals are now officially out of the 2025 season of the IPL. It was a disappointing ending for them. Despite winning 5 of their first 6 matches, Axar Patel‘s team lost 6 of their next 7. Their latest and most heartbreaking loss came against the Mumbai Indians.

Hardik Pandya and co. dominated the proceedings and recorded a one-sided victory over the 2020 finalists. One of the biggest reasons for their loss was to concede 48 runs in the last two overs. Their pacers, Mukesh Kumar, gave 27 runs in the 19th over, and Dushmantha Chameera gave away 21 runs in the last over, courtesy of Suryakumar Yadav and Naman Dhir‘s brilliant batting.

Delhi head coach Hemang Badani was blunt in his assessment of their loss against MI. He admitted that the game changed in the last two overs they bowled. Badani felt that conceding 48 runs in 12 balls was simply too costly at that stage of the match, and ultimately, those runs turned out to be the difference. In his opinion, DC executed their plans perfectly until the 18th over, but everything went downhill after that.

Badani further added that they should have read the game better. He also said that the bowlers should have understood the pitch better and used their variations more effectively. Because of the last two overs, the momentum completely shifted towards MI, and they comprehensively defeated the Capitals by 59 runs. With that win, the five-time champions have now qualified for the playoffs.

Mumbai Indians owner Nita Ambani’s No. 6 celebration goes viral after victory over Delhi Capitals

Mumbai Indians owner Nita Ambani is the team’s biggest supporter. She shows up to cheer whenever MI plays at the Wankhede Stadium. As the camera panned toward her after Mumbai’s 59-run win on a tricky pitch, she signaled ‘6’ with her hands, hinting at the team’s potential sixth title win.

A victory this season will distinguish MI as the only leader, since the Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Super Kings are now equal at five titles each. Aakash Ambani, Nita’s son, joined her in celebrating the significant victory and applauding the team. She even participated in a victory lap around the stadium following MI’s final home game of the season.

Leading the charge was Rohit Sharma, who delighted spectators by throwing autographed tennis balls into the stands—a cherished custom at Wankhede. This victory marked yet another classic MI comeback. After a rough start to the season, the five-time champions turned things around spectacularly, winning seven of their next eight games to storm into the playoffs.
