Cody Rhodes Shocks WWE Universe with His Return at SNME; Sets Huge Challenge for MITB 2025

After more than a month, Cody Rhodes has returned to WWE. The Prodigal Son made an incredible comeback at Saturday Night’s Main Event after being absent from WrestleMania 41, where he was unfairly defeated by John Cena for the Undisputed WWE Title. His return coincided with the moment Cena interrupted the ongoing World Heavyweight Title match between Logan Paul and Jey Uso.

It appeared that The Maverick was doomed when Uso hit Paul with a Frog Splash. Mr. Hustle, Loyalty, and Respect pulled the referee out of the ring as the Yeet Master went for the cover, preventing the count from going past two. Cena then entered the ring and began beating down Uso. However, Rhodes’ music hit soon after, drawing a massive pop from the crowd.

The WWE Quarterback went straight for the Peacemaker star and hit a Cross Rhodes to flatten him. With brass knuckles on, Paul was waiting in the background, ready to sucker punch the former AEW EVP. But Rhodes ducked under him, and Uso returned the blow with a Spear.

Paul and Cena were both challenged by The American Nightmare to a tag team bout at Money in the Bank on June 7th. Rhodes and Uso would team up at the PLE. The two had previously defeated Damian Priest and Finn Balor at the Fastlane PLE in 2023 to become the tag team champions.

Cody Rhodes breaks silence after return while aiming at John Cena

Cody Rhodes made his intentions known on X shortly after electrifying the Tampa audience at Saturday Night’s Main Event. “You’ve ruined enough,” he wrote. “I’ll see you two at #MITB.” In a backstage conversation with Jey Uso, John Cena reiterated his claim that wrestling is ruined for everyone, which is what The American Nightmare was alluding to.

Uso promptly reminded the Cenation Leader of their earlier encounter at the Royal Rumble. At Rumble, the former Bloodline member defeated Cena to win the entire event. In response, the Franchise Player sowed doubt in the 39-year-old’s mind by stating how fulfilling it would be for him to retire with the Undisputed WWE Title.

But at the same time, a YouTuber like Paul takes away the World Heavyweight Title that Uso currently holds. That’s when he’ll be validated for “wrecking wrestling,” according to Cena. However, with Money in the Bank just around the corner, everything is starting to fit together.
