Cody Rhodes reveals two matches that Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson should wrestle

WrestleMania XL is widely regarded as one of the best WrestleMania events ever. A major reason for its success was The Rock’s return as a villain. Playing ‘The Final Boss,’ he joined The Bloodline and made life hard for Cody Rhodes. He also teamed up with Roman Reigns in a high-stakes tag match against Rhodes and Seth Rollins.

Despite limited appearances this year, Cody Rhodes believes The Rock still has more wrestling to give. On the Pardon My Take podcast, Rhodes said The Rock loves wrestling deeply. He praised how involved The Rock gets, noting that his passion for wrestling shines through, no matter his Hollywood success.

Rhodes also claimed The Rock has at least two more matches in him. He mentioned wanting to see The Rock face Roman Reigns, though timing could be an issue. Rhodes called it “the greatest match we never get.” He also said their own rivalry needs a proper conclusion.

I think he has two matches he has to do. I’m not putting any pressure on anyone, but I think he does — I’d love to see him and his cousin, Roman Reigns, ever have this encounter. Maybe it’s the greatest match we never get because timing or whatever it may be and I think we need to finish our own story with him and myself.

While The Rock likely won’t wrestle at this year’s WrestleMania, he’s still part of the Rhodes-John Cena storyline. Cena shocked fans by turning heel and attacking Rhodes at Elimination Chamber. If The Rock appears at WrestleMania 42, he could change the match’s outcome in a big way.

Cody Rhodes shares the ‘magic’ with The Undertaker during his match at WrestleMania 40

At WrestleMania, ‘The American Nightmare’ Cody Rhodes achieved the biggest victory of his career by defeating Roman Reigns. During the match, legends like John Cena and The Undertaker helped Rhodes fend off The Bloodline. After the match, Rhodes called his moment with The Undertaker magical.

Rhodes later shared details about The Undertaker’s surprise appearance. He recalled how ‘The Deadman’ entered the ring and chokeslammed The Rock. While Rhodes was down, The Undertaker glanced at him and winked. Then, the lights went out—a classic Undertaker touch—which Rhodes described as truly magical.

During the match, Reigns shifted his focus from Rhodes and brutally attacked Seth Rollins with a steel chair. Seizing the opportunity, Rhodes capitalized and finally “finished the story” by defeating Reigns. This victory made him the new WWE World Champion.

When he chokeslams The Rock, I got to make eye contact with him ever so briefly and I think he maybe wanted to have a moment, maybe not, I could be overestimating my importance to the Undertaker, but he winked at me. He winked at me, and then the lights went out. It was like legitimate magic had happened.
