WWE World Champion John Cena Set To Face CM Punk at the Night of Champions PLE in Saudi Arabia

John Cena discussed his future as the Undisputed WWE Champion at the beginning of this week’s Monday Night Raw, reminding the WWE Universe that this was his last run. The Cenation Leader sought their gratitude. However, what he didn’t expect was a surprise showdown from CM Punk, his longstanding foe who had been waiting for the right opportunity to take center stage.

The Best in the World was there to defend the WWE Universe’s honor. He proclaimed that Cena had turned into a corrupted guy while looking him in the eye. Punk asserted that when he was transformed into a monster by the Undisputed WWE Championship, he was compelled to become a monster to prevent Cena from destroying everything that wrestling represents.

The Franchise Player grinned at The Second City Saint and declared that he would gladly take on his former opponent, but only if he got his way. Cena issued the challenge for a matchup for the Undisputed WWE Title at Night of Champions in Saudi Arabia. It was difficult for Punk to accept the match because of his prior conflicts with the Kingdom.

Later that evening, Monday Night Raw GM Adam Pearce made it official that Punker would head to Saudi Arabia to face the last real champion for the one last time for the Undisputed WWE Championship. The announcement marks their first WWE singles encounter in over a decade—their last one-on-one bout took place in February 2013, though the two did cross paths during this year’s Elimination Chamber match.

CM Punk Spoke About a Tattoo That Symbolizes the Loss of His Passion for Wrestling in WWE

Punk’s distinctive tattoos have become an integral part of his identity, with each piece telling a unique story about who he is. Some reflect his personal beliefs and goals, while others tie directly to his wrestling journey. In a recent interview, Punk opened up about one particular tattoo that marks the period when he grew away from WWE.

On WWE Tattooed, The Best in the World revealed details about a tattoo he got in 2013, just before facing Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam. The piece features dark imagery—cobwebs, black roses, and a coffin topped with an inverted crucifix. While Punk admitted it seemed like a strange choice, he explained that it perfectly captured how he felt about wrestling during that period.

I got this one, which is very dark — black roses, cobwebs, a coffin with an upside down cross on it, and a candle with an extinguished flame. But in talking through with my friend who did the tattoo, I realized, the passion I have for this is gone, the flame has been extinguished.”

The Second City Saint explained that he just needed time to step back, feeling that the soul had gone out of professional wrestling. That 2013 SummerSlam would turn out to be Punk’s last match before his bitter exit from WWE in 2014. After almost 10 years, he would make a historic return at the Survivor Series PLE.
