Chelsea Green, the first Women’s United States Champion, suffered an embarrassing loss on SmackDown. Though it wasn’t a title match, she was defeated by Zelina Vega in just one minute via countout. Humiliated and angry, Green decided to take legal action. She targeted both Vega and the referee who oversaw the match.
After the match, Green posted what seemed to be a legal notice on X. She hired Luca Crusifino, a kayfabe lawyer from NXT, to represent her. The notice, sent to WWE management, called her loss “highly questionable and completely unjust.”
Her complaint argued that the referee’s ten-count didn’t follow WWE’s standard pace. It claimed referees must count at a steady, consistent speed. Green’s team demanded a full match review. They also insisted the referee undergo a “counting cadence retraining course.”
The match started with Green aggressively attacking Vega and throwing her out of the ring. But after bringing Vega back in, Green argued with commentators. This distraction led to her being counted out.
The crowd was as confused as Green, shocked by the referee’s fast count. Currently, Green doesn’t have a WrestleMania match. However, with tensions growing between her and Vega, that may change soon.
Zelina Vega fired immediate response after Chelsea Green took legal action against her
Vega never took Green’s behavior seriously, including her legal threats. Tired of the excuses, the 34-year-old responded on social media. As part of the L.W.O., she criticized Green for repeatedly keeping the Women’s U.S. Title with help from Piper Niven and Alba Fyre.
On X, Vega challenged Green to a No Disqualification match. She demanded no interference from Niven or Fyre. Vega also mocked Green for abusing her “presidential power” to avoid fair fights.
Despite Green’s tactics, Vega remained confident. She believed she could defeat Green and claim the Women’s U.S. Title. Vega saw the championship as rightfully hers and was determined to take it.
Vega is known for her strong mic skills, but her in-ring ability has also stood out. One of her best matches was at WWE Backlash two years ago in Puerto Rico. She faced Rhea Ripley and earned the crowd’s respect, even in defeat.
“Sick of your shit. NO DQ. NO GOONS. TITLE ON THE LINE. You want to use your “presidential power” to swap out refs, Joe, whoever else? Fine… But at this point, it’s not just about beating you, it’s about taking what’s mine.”
