Shikhar Dhawan reacts to CSK’s first win under MS Dhoni’s captaincy this season against LSG

MS Dhoni led Chennai Super Kings finally returned to winning ways with a victory over Lucknow Super Giants. It was Dhoni’s first win in the two matches he has captained this season. Fans breathed a sigh of relief and praised the 43-year-old legend for his leadership. Not just the fans, even Shikhar Dhawan shared his thoughts on social media.

Gabbar took to X and was highly impressed by CSK’s win. LSG was a strong side, having won 4 out of 6 matches before this one. Dhawan said the Super Kings made a strong comeback and quoted, “Men in yellow never give up.” He also encouraged Lucknow to regroup and prepare for their next match.

Speaking about the match, captain Rishabh Pant finally scored his first fifty of the season. While players like Aiden Markram and Nicholas Pooran couldn’t score big, Mitchell Marsh returned and provided solid support to Pant. Thanks to a late flourish from Ayush Badoni and Abdul Samad, LSG set a target of 167 runs for CSK.

“CSK, what a comeback! Much needed win and a reminder that the men in yellow never give up. LSG, you’re still up there in the table. Regroup and get ready to come back stronger in the next one“!

Young batter Shaik Rasheed got a chance to shine on the big stage. He and Rachin Ravindra gave CSK the kind of start they hadn’t managed all season. Although middle-order batters Rahul Tripathi, Ravindra Jadeja, and Vijay Shankar once again failed to impress, Shivam Dube held his ground at one end. He and Dhoni finished the job, securing CSK’s second win of the season.

Can MS Dhoni led Chennai Super Kings pull off an RCB-esque comeback?

The Chennai Super Kings are in a tough spot right now. They need to win 6, or at least 5, of their remaining 7 matches. It’s a nearly impossible task—one that RCB pulled off last year by winning their last 6 games to qualify for the playoffs and knock CSK out of the competition.

If the five-time champions want to pull this off, they’ll need something magical. Handing the captaincy back to Dhoni could be the first step in the right direction. After their second win of the season against LSG, their next challenge is against their archrivals, the Mumbai Indians.

MI won their last match against DC, ending Delhi’s unbeaten run. The last time these two teams met, CSK had the upper hand, comfortably chasing the target thanks to Rachin’s fifty. This match could be a virtual knockout for both sides. It will be interesting to see who keeps their playoff hopes alive.
