Gujarat Titans’ Jos Buttler created unique record with an unbeaten 97 against Delhi Capitals in IPL 2025

Jos Buttler was the match’s hero against Delhi Capitals, scoring an unbeaten 97 to lead Gujarat Titans in chasing a mammoth target of 203. Despite missing out on a century and the record for the fastest to score the most hundreds, he still set a unique record.

The Englishman became the first player to score 90+ runs multiple times in successful run chases. With his latest innings of 97 against Delhi Capitals, he has now done it three times. He also scored 94 against Chennai Super Kings and 95 against Mumbai Indians, helping his team win on both occasions.

Buttler recorded his 11th 90+ score in IPL history, surpassing players like Chris Gayle, KL Rahul, and David Warner. Many fans have begun debating whether he is the greatest foreign player in IPL history. He now sits second on the list, just behind Virat Kohli, who has 13 scores of 90 or more.

Speaking of the match itself, despite Delhi Capitals scoring over 200, it turned out to be a one-sided affair. Buttler’s 97 was the standout performance in the chase, supported by Sai Sudharsan’s 36 and Sherfane Rutherford’s quickfire 43. With this win, Gujarat Titans moved to the top of the points table with 10 points from 7 matches, thanks to a better net run rate than the other teams.

Gujarat Titans could strengthen their grip on top of the points table with victory over struggling KKR

Table-toppers Gujarat Titans will play their 8th match of the season against Kolkata Knight Riders. Both teams are having very different seasons — GT has won 5 out of 7 matches, while KKR have managed only 3 wins from 7. A win for Shubman Gill’s side could give them a strong lead over the other teams and further trouble the struggling reigning champions.

Kolkata suffered an embarrassing loss against Punjab Kings in their last match. Chasing just 112, they were bowled out for 95. The PBKS bowlers put in an exceptional performance, dismissing all KKR batters and setting a unique record by defending the lowest total in IPL history.

Speaking of the match-ups, it will be interesting to watch KKR’s spinners take on Sudharsan and Gill. The opening duo has been in sublime form since the start of the season, with the top three contributing most of the runs for the Titans. If KKR wants a chance to win, they’ll need to break through early and expose the middle order as quickly as possible.
