Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) finally got their first win this season as they defeated the in-form Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) to give them their 1st loss in the 7th match of IPL season 2025. It wasn’t a typical SRH start, as Shardul Thakur got both Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan out cheaply. Travis Head continued his amazing form and kept the run rate high with his batting.
However, an inexperienced bowler, Prince Yadav, bowled him out, as he missed his half-century by just 3 runs. Middle-order batters Nitish Reddy, Henrich Klassen, and Aniket Verma gave valuable contributions. Not only them, but captain Pat Cummins also came with all guns blazing, as he scored a quickfire 18 runs off just 4 balls and helped SRH reach a fighting total of 190 runs.
The chase didn’t start well for the Super Giants, as Aiden Markram continued his poor form and got out at just one courtesy of Mohammad Shami. However, Nicholas Pooran led the chase, along with Mitchell Marsh, and scored 96 runs in just 7 overs. The West Indian power hitter brought up his half-century in just 18 balls.
SRH did manage to take some wickets, but they were never clearly in the game, as Abdul Samad finished the match with a flurry of boundaries against his old team. Pooran won the man of the match award for his blistering knock of 70 in just 26 balls. He scored 6 fours and 6 sixes and gave LSG the first two points of the season. Both teams now have 1 win and 1 loss in 2 matches in the 18th season of IPL.
