Jannik Sinner has become one of the most talked-about names in tennis. However, even the World No. 1 gets bothered by setbacks and losses, and for Sinner, it was the French Open.
Now, with his eyes set on the challenges ahead, the Italian star opened up on how he bounced back after the disappointment in Paris at the hands of Carlos Alcaraz.
In an interview, Sinner admitted he was a bit taken aback by his response following his Roland Garros loss. “Returning to the court and being able to produce this level of play after what had happened in the previous Slam, at times, surprised me too,” he said. “So I’m very happy, I arrive with that push.”
Despite the final loss in Paris, the 23-year-old has remained focused. Part of his concern during the French Open stemmed from an elbow injury that limited his movement. “The elbow does not hurt,” Sinner reassured. “But I like the sensation that the sleeve gives. It gives a little more stability during the impact with the ball.”
Just weeks after he was disappointed at Roland Garros, Jannik Sinner bounced back remarkably to capture his first Wimbledon title. Entering the grass-court major with tempered expectations, Sinner quickly found his rhythm.
Now, with the US Open approaching, fans and analysts alike are keeping a close eye on Sinner. If his recent play is any indication, he seems to be making the most impressive progression.
And as the young star himself hinted, the loss may have been a turning point rather than a roadblock. “I arrive with that push,” Jannik Sinner said.
