Carlos Alcaraz has a lot to look forward to this summer, and this doesn’t end as a singles contender, but as a mixed doubles partner alongside none other than Emma Raducanu at the 2025 US Open. And if his recent comments are any indication, he’s more than thrilled about it.
Fresh off his second straight Roland Garros title, Carlos Alcaraz is now shifting his focus to the hard courts of New York. While he’ll continue his quest for more singles glory, it’s his new partnership with Raducanu in mixed doubles that has fans buzzing.
Speaking ahead of the tournament, the 22-year-old Spaniard couldn’t hide his excitement. “She’s going to be the boss!” Alcaraz laughed when asked about teaming up with Raducanu. “The US Open came to us and gave us the opportunity to play mixed doubles and I’m super excited about it. It’s going to be great.”
For the uninitiated, Alcaraz already has five Grand Slam titles under his belt, including back-to-back wins at Roland Garros. However, Raducanu is looking to reignite the magic that saw her win the 2021 US Open as a teenage qualifier.
Their chemistry off the court seems just as natural as what fans hope to see on it.
“I’ve known Emma a really long time and I have a really good relationship with her,” Alcaraz shared. “It’s going to be interesting. The tournament told us about the mixed tournament and I was thinking it couldn’t be better than Emma.”
The idea, it turns out, wasn’t just handed to them, but the young Spaniard took the initiative.
“I asked Emma if she wanted to play doubles with me, and yeah, I made that special request,” he said with a smile.
As Alcaraz gears up for another deep singles run, he’ll also be looking forward to bagging the mixed doubles with Raducanu on court. For fans, it’s a rare treat to see two of tennis’s brightest stars team up, coming for the ultimate win.
